Angela Stone

My purpose is to design spaces that reflect the people inhabiting them. I am continually inspired by people, who they are, what they work towards in life, how they live and how they want to live. I am only satisfied if you can recognize the best of yourself in every room of your home.

I specialize in mixing worn, storied pieces with clean modern forms and finding ways of balancing feminine and masculine elements. I love the untold story of found objects and global accents. The more age, the more soulful. I find myself drawn to the zen qualities of Japan, the textural warmth of Scandinavia and the timeless methods of England. My process begins with a thorough questionnaire so I can get to know you and design around your aesthetic as well as your everyday life. I don’t want your house to look like your neighbors. I want it to look and feel like you.

I was raised a builder’s daughter and have been examining and analyzing floor plans since before I could read. The formal training came much later in life, when I earned my Bachelor’s of Fine Art, in Design. I found my place in design, and defined my love of imperfect beauty, while working alongside an antique collector and designer. I’m intrigued by how architecture moves us through a space, how lighting can change our mood and the right amount of texture can make a house, feel like home.,

I’ve been practicing design for over a decade in Chicago and just returned home to Maine in the Fall of 2018. I grew up climbing the rocks along the the water, weaving my fingers through mounds of seaweed, collecting bits of driftwood, sea glass, and stones, while inhaling that salty pine air. I missed it, all of it. I wanted this childhood for my children. What surprised me most is that even though I left Maine, Maine never left me. The natural palette, the rugged texture, the ethereal mist juxtaposed with the grit of the coast and vast forests, the mood of it all, was my greatest inspiration. I’m delighted to be back and look forward to connecting with new clients in this wonderfully inspiring place.
